About International Friendlies.
International friendlies are currently taking centre stage as national teams use the March 2026 window (March 25–31) for critical "dress rehearsals" ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June. These matches are essential for coaches like Mauricio Pochettino (USA) to finalise their 23-man rosters and test tactical variations without the pressure of competitive stakes.
The 2026 FIFA Series
A major highlight of this window is the 2026 FIFA Series, an invitational initiative bringing together teams from different confederations that rarely face each other.
Format: 50 national teams (men’s and women’s) are divided into 13 groups across 12 host nations.
Unique Rules: Matches ending in a draw go directly to a penalty shootout with no extra time.
Key Men's Series Hosts: Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Rwanda, Puerto Rico, and Uzbekistan.
Men's Match Dates: March 25–31, 2026.
Women's Match Dates: April 9–18, 2026.
