About 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification (UEFA).
The UEFA qualification process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is currently in its final decisive stage, with the playoff semi-finals scheduled for 26 March 2026 and the finals for 31 March 2026. Out of the 16 total slots allocated to UEFA for the expanded 48-team tournament, 12 nations have already secured their places as group winners. The remaining 4 spots will be determined this week through four separate playoff "paths"
Qualified UEFA Teams (12/16)
As of November 2025, the following 12 group winners have qualified directly for the finals in Canada, Mexico, and the United States:
Austria, Belgium, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, and Switzerland
Playoff Structure (Second Round)
The 16 teams in the playoffs consist of the 12 group runners-up and the 4 best-ranked group winners from the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League who did not finish in the top two of their qualifying group. They are divided into four paths (A–D), each featuring single-leg semi-finals and a final.
